Rubina
This is a Slovenian variety. Budding 7-10 days before the Franquette variety. It is moderately sensitive to spring frosts and tolerates winter cold well. It is little sensitive to walnut blight and walnut anthracnose. The growth of the tree is moderately lush, somewhat upright. It has an intermediate to lateral growth type. Fruting is average. The shell is medium to thick, oval with a smooth, light-coloured and well-furrowed shell. The special feature of the variety is the attractive ruby-red colour of the kernels. It is easy to remove from the shell. The variety is interesting as a culinary speciality. We plant it in more protected micro-locations or in vineyards and in Primorje.
