Negret

This is an old variety of Spanish origin. It grows weak to medium vigour and is very productive. We grow it in the form of trees, but it also normally grows as a bush. It is medium sensitive for the nut weevil and fairly resistant to hazelnut gall mite. Flowers and buds medium early. The fruit is smaller, slightly elongated. When ripe, it almost always falls out of the green envelope. The shell is of medium thickness, darker with longitudinal stripes and a greyish tip. The kernel is round to oval, with a compact skin in the centre that falls off nicely when roasted.
