Butler
The origin of the variety is unknown. It was first cultivated in Oregon, USA, from where it spread to Europe. It grows very luxuriantly. It is cultivated as a bush or tree with an upright habit. It bears regularly and abundantly. It is very sensitive to hazelnut gall mite, and a lot for a nut weevil. Blooms and buds very late. The fruit is large, cylindrical in shape, attractive in appearance. When ripe, it falls beautifully from its green envelope. The shell is glossy dark brown, slightly reddish in colour. Kernels are elongated round with quite compact skin, which after almost completely remains on the kernel during roasting.
