Chandler

It is a cross between the Pedro variety and the UC56-224 selection, bred at the University of California, Davis. Budding takes place at the beginning of the last decade of April, so it is sensitive to late spring cold. The leaves are very susceptible to walnut anthracnose and the shoots to walnut blight. It sprouts early and fruits abundantly, even on most lateral buds. The fruit is large, elongated, with a beautiful, light-coloured and smooth shell. The kernels are light in colour and can be easily removed from the shell. It is suitable for vineyard locations and Primorje.
